Thank U's Raw Materials Shows FAQ

FAQ's

What will my neighbors say?
This is the #1 concern most first-time purchasers have & I applaud that courtesy...BUT SERIOUSLY FOLKS...while YOU are looking at the chimes & saying: " WOW!!! Those are the best sounding chimes I've ever heard," someone else is looking at the chimes & saying the same thing! My chimes are the BEST SOUNDING chimes you will find on the market today! When they ask you for it, please feel free to give your neighbors my toll free # 1-877-wchimes!

Why are chimegarden windchimes SUPERIOR to other chimes?
#1: THE SOUND! When first-timers walk by the chimes hanging on display, they stop dead in their tracks & ask if we are playing a CD. #2: they balance the 5 EARTH ELEMENTS! #3: they balance the sciences of applied mathematics, numerology & feng shui!

Can chimegarden chimes stay out in the weather (all year)?
YES, with one consideration. HEAVY WINDS will cause the Aluminum notes to hit each other producing unwanted NOISE & (possibly) a damaging fall. Please protect your chime from heavy winds. (particularly farmer-folks in: IA, SD, KS, NE, WI, MN)

Do you sell CD's of the chimes? Do you want to?
NO: I am happy making windchimes.

Can I get a chimegarden windchime in a retail store?
Finding a chimegarden windchime in retail store would be an extra-ordinary event. Occasionally, high-end gift & garden shops & contemporary furniture stores will buy a few. One year, a real-estate agent bought 30 sopranos to give to her clients (thanks!). Because the chimes are labor-intensive, I can only offer a very small price break on bulk purchases.

How do I order?
CALL deeann @1-877-wchimes, I prefer to TALK with you. I am unable to offer on-line shopping; for me, e-commerce is not economically sound at this time.

How much is shipping & handling? & when will my chime be shipped?
I ship via FEDEX regular ground: please see individual chime pages for S&H charges. I generally like to get your chime out the same day of OR the day after your order, unless otherwise instructed by you.

Do you repair "foreign" chimes?
YES: call deeann to discuss when & where 1-877-wchimes. The cost is a flat $65 fee which includes S&H back to you.

What is the best way to hang my chime?
Wind likes to whip around walled structures which prove to be the best locations for a chime. If you hang your chimegarden windchime from a 25# screw-in hook or a non-chimegarden bracket, please make sure that the windcatcher has sufficient swinging clearance from the walled structure. (Just GET a chimegardenHOOK $15) A strong rope or a chain thrown over a LOW limb of a tree & a shepherd's hook staked in the ground are other ways to hang your chime. You may need to try different hanging spots for best wind action placement of the windcatcher.

I have a lot of wind & my windcatcher rope is starting to wear out. Can I get more rope?
YES: call 1-877-wchimes & be able to tell me which chime you have. Rope is free.

My dog pulled the windcatcher down & I ran over it with the lawn mower. Can I get another windcatcher?
YES: call 1-877-wchimes. Depending on your story, chime parts range from $0-$65. Because the windcatcher is the most labor intensive piece on the chime, i need to ask for a replacement fee; see individual chime pages for prices. PLEASE DO NOT retie windcatcher without sufficient length in rope. CALL ME FOR ROPE.

I want to make my own chime, will you sell me some aluminum tubing?
NO: Call deeann @ 1-877- wchimes for help, but aluminum tubing is NOT for sale.

deeann, why did you change the chimes & can I still get an "old style" chime?
I HAD to GROW!!! & NO: the "old style" chimes are NOT available. For 2 years, i gave notice of the retiring chimes & made replacement parts available. I replaced the "old style Bass" with the Baritone & then also made the cathedral Bass. Depending on the condition of your chime, i will rework your "old style" chime to the current style. The rework fee is $65, roughly 50% of the original price you paid way back when. This is a really terrific deal since your chime will be restored to almost NEW! & you can chose a !STONE top! OR just stay with a redWOOD top.

9 of the 11 chimes are only made with a stone top, can I get one with a wood top instead?
YES: s3, t5, b5, bb4. NO: cB5, cB4 & all 3 copper chimes due to weight. Depending on availability at the time, the price may range $15-$30 above regular chime price...just call.

I received a postcard from you BUT my address has an error OR I prefer NOT to be on your mailing list, what do I do?
Please CALL 1-877-wchimes & leave a message. I DISLIKE sitting at the computer so i do not offer an e-mail address. Sorry for the hassle.

I bought a chime from you at annual art & craft show a few years ago, why haven't you come back? OR there is a really FABULOUS a/c show in my area, why don't you apply?
The answer to both questions is that I probably applied & was not accepted to participate in that show that year you were looking for me. One year of participation never guarantees another year of participation in a juried show. Each year I spend at least $3000 in effort to apply to juried a/c shows. Many FABULOUS a/c show applications explicitly state that certain items (windchimes, for one) need NOT apply. A panel of judges processes the required materials sent in by applicants that include 3-5 professionally taken slides of ones art & display, a brief slide description, a check for fees, a signed hold-harmless agreement & a SASE. Immediate disqualification is usually a consequence if any other material (CD, artist statement, sample) be enclosed with application. So, with only being able to SEE really great looking, detailed slides of my chimes, these annually renewed, perhaps, panels of judges, with different agendas, JUST see chimes. (You guys who hold a purple paper can not be objective here because you have been up close to the chimes & just KNOW!) The shows I do get in usually tend to have a good balance of all kinds of art. You can positively affect your neighbor a/c shows by communicating with their promoters (i.e.: chamber of commerce, rotary, independents.)

Are renaissance festivals easier & cheaper to qualify for? What is your attraction?
NO. Renaissance artists must prove their handmade declaration (just like for juried a/c shows) PLUS their art must have roots in that era. Start-up participation costs for a themed venue can be many times more expensive than a weekend a/c show. In the end, the renaissance venue allows me to reach more people at a lower expense & get chimes out there at a reasonable cost to you. My attraction to the renaissance is what I hope patrons see & feel when they spend time at the faire. When the curtain is down, those involved are all very smart, hard-working, fun, real individuals that respect other people & who actually do coexist as family for the run of the show. My involvement in this arena has definitely made me a better person.
